Meet a new reader selector for next year's Gateway nominees!
I am really excited because I have been asked to be a reader selector for the Gateway Committee this year! I have been wanting to do this for awhile! Basically, I will read 25 books that the committee has narrowed down for next year's nominees and rank them from best to worst. I have until December 1st to read and rank the books, which I will admit, stresses me out a little. I have started back to work full time at Kickapoo's library and will be starting my grad classes in a couple of weeks. Busy stuff! Luckily, reading is something I find to be very enjoyable. Plus, reading these nominees will not only help me to suggest books for students to read, but also give me a head start for reading next year's Gateway nominees. Instead of reading them next summer, I can be reading other things. I need to reread the classics, and I also have a list of random books that I have been wanting to read, like The Maze Runner by James Dashner, and Wicked by Gregory McGuire (yes, I still haven't read the series!), and several that my mom recommended whose titles I can't remember. In a perfect world, I will have time to blog about them all on here. We shall see what happens!

Congrats on being named to the committee! That sounds like a really big deal.
Thanks! It's not a huge thing, but it's still pretty exciting!
